Met Gala 2018 : Celebrities share divine looks on red carpet

Met Gala 2018: Celebrities share divine looks on red carpet

The Met Gala, the benefit event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, is considered the highlight of New York's social calendar, attracting fashion designers and stars from around the world.
It is known for its expensive tickets, exclusive guest list, and extravagant outfits that are based around a different theme each year.
This year, the theme was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, which showcases how Catholicism has influenced fashion throughout history.
Celebrities hit the red carpet on Monday night, sporting papal-inspired gowns, chainmail costumes reminiscent of the Crusades and in singer Katy Perry's case - oversized angel wings.

Met Gala: The stories behind six of the most captivating outfits

The annual Met Gala is the fashion industry's night of nights.
The star-studded party raises money for the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute - but is basically a chance for extremely beautiful people to wear extremely beautiful clothes.
This year's theme was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination - also the title of the Met's new exhibition.
And the stars didn't hold back with their outfits.

Met Gala 2018 Red Carpet: Every Menswear Look You Need to See

The 2018 Met Gala (or Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala, as it's formally called) is both a celebration of the blockbuster exhibit "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" opening this Thursday and the fundraiser for the Costume Institute's entire annual operating budget, which ensures the art of fashion is kept alive and well-preserved for generations to come.

Of course the night's big draw is seeing dozens of the world's most famous people in one-of-a-kind designer threads and tonight was no exception. The "Sunday Best" dress code was a nod to the exhibit's religious themes but ambiguous enough to be interpreted any number of ways—and was it ever. Chadwick Boseman turned up in an all-white papal-level fit. Migos coordinated Greek-key-and-rococo Versace jackets. Shaun White opted for beaded peacock feathers, Luka Sabbat went with a beaded bathrobe, and Lewis Hamilton and Diddy tried on couture communion suits. Here's every wild, weird, and damn well done menswear look worth seeing from fashion's waviest red-and-cream carpet.
