Neighbours has congratulated the team at EastEnders as the BBC soap celebrates its 30th anniversary today (February 19).

The cast of the Australian series decided to mark the special occasion by filming an amusing sketch showcasing their range of cockney accents.

Jackie Woodburne, Alan Fletcher, Colette Mann, Morgana O'Reilly, Stefan Dennis, Kate Kendall and Olympia Valance all played a part in the EastErinsborough sketch, which saw their characters re-enact some of the most classic EastEnders moments.

After Ramsay Street's Susan Kennedy slips on some milk once again, she wakes up in the middle of an episode of the London soap and encounters a rather different looking Paul Robinson, who claims to be Phil Mitchell.

Later, she witnesses a row between Paige Smith and Naomi Canning, in which Naomi shouts that she is Paige's mother - a nod to the famous scene between Kat and Zoe Slater.

Sheila Canning pays homage to Peggy Mitchell by using her memorable line "get out of my pub", and Karl Kennedy acts out a famous scene involving Den and Angie Watts when he delivers Susan divorce papers.

Neighbours series producer Jason Herbison said: "Thirty years is a long time in television and we know how much blood, sweat and tears, as well as a lot of love and laughs, goes into producing serial drama, so well done EastEnders.

"Our cast had a fantastic time paying homage to some memorable Walford moments in the sketch. And I couldn't miss the opportunity to have Colette scream, 'Get out of me pub'."

This is not the first time that soap rivalry has taken a backseat in recent weeks as Coronation Street and Hollyoaks also sent good luck messages to the EastEnders team as they prepared to go live.

Adam Woodyatt also won strong praise last month when he paid a moving tribute to late Coronation Street actress Anne Kirkbride at the National Television Awards.

Neighbours is also celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, with several past characters returning for the milestone.
