MOWGLI directed by Andy Serkis - Official 1st Trailer 21 May 2018

MOWGLI directed by Andy Serkis - Official 1st Trailer 21 May 2018

Published on 21 May 2018 by Warner Bros Pictures

Watch the new trailer for Mowgli starring Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Freida Pinto. Only in theaters October 19.

Motion capture and live action are blended for “Mowgli,” a new, big-screen, 3D adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic The Jungle Book. The film features an impressive roster of stars under the direction of Andy Serkis.

The story follows the upbringing of the human child Mowgli, raised by a wolf pack in the jungles of India. As he learns the often harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo and a panther named Bagheera, Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own. All but one: the fearsome tiger Shere Khan. But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins.

The actors performing the roles of the story’s central animal characters are: Oscar winner Christian Bale (“The Fighter,” the “Dark Knight” Trilogy) as the cunning panther, Bagheera; Oscar winner Cate Blanchett (“Blue Jasmine,” “The Aviator”) as the sinister snake, Kaa; Oscar nominee Benedict Cumberbatch (“The Imitation Game,” “Avengers: Infinity War”) as the fearsome tiger, Shere Khan; Oscar nominee Naomie Harris (“Moonlight,” “Skyfall”) as Nisha, the female wolf, who adopts the baby Mowgli as one of her cubs; and Andy Serkis (the “Planet of the Apes” trilogy, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”) as the wise bear, Baloo. On the human side, Matthew Rhys (“The Post”) is Lockwood; Freida Pinto (“Knight of Cups”) is Messua; and young actor Rohan Chand (“The Hundred-Foot Journey,” “Bad Words”) will play Mowgli, the boy raised by wolves.

Rounding out the cast are Peter Mullan (“Tommy’s Honour”), as the leader of the wolf pack, Akela; Jack Reynor (“Transformers: Age of Extinction”), as Mowgli’s brother Wolf; Eddie Marsan (TV’s “Ray Donovan”), as Nisha’s mate, Vihaan; and Tom Hollander (“Breathe”) as the scavenging hyena, Tabaqui.

“Mowgli” is produced by Steve Kloves (“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”), Jonathan Cavendish (“Breathe,” performance capture producer on “Godzilla”), and David Barron (the “Harry Potter” films), with Nikki Penny serving as executive producer. The screenplay is by Kloves’ daughter, Callie Kloves.

Serkis’s creative filmmaking team includes director of photography Michael Seresin (“War for the Planet of the Apes”), production designer Gary Freeman (“Tomb Raider”) and editors Mark Sanger (Oscar winner, “Gravity”), Alex Marquez (“Snowden”) and Jeremiah O’Driscoll (“Flight”). The music is composed by Nitin Sawhney (“Breathe”).

A man has been arrested on suspicion of battery after allegedly punching Brad Pitt in the face at the premiere of Maleficent in Los Angeles.

Ukrainian reporter Vitalii Sediuk - who is known for pranking celebrities - was reportedly seen jumping over a barrier, hugging and then striking the star.

The 25-year-old was wrestled to the floor by bodyguards before being led away in handcuffs by police.

Pitt, who had been signing autographs at the time, was not seriously hurt

Maleficent is Disney's modern retelling of the Sleeping Beauty fairytale, starring Pitt's partner Angelina Jolie as its villain.

A spokesperson for the film company said: "This was an unfortunate and inappropriate incident that is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department."

A police spokesman said Mr Sediuk was held in custody on Wednesday night pending $20,000 (£12,000) bail.

"The officers who were handling him said it looked like [the attack] was intentional, but at this point, it remains to be determined," Sgt Leonard Calderon told Reuters.

Mr Sediuk has a history of red carpet stunts and pranking celebrities.

Last week, he hit headlines after he crawled under the skirt of Ugly Betty actress America Ferrera at the Cannes Film Festival.

Disney is ramping up a movie version of its venerable “It’s a Small World” theme park ride with Jon Turteltaub directing.

Jared Stern is writing the script and will produce with Turteltaub and “The Lego Movieproducer Dan Lin.

The ride was created by WED Enterprises and debuted at the New York World’s Fair in 1964. It was rebuilt after the fair, installed in Disneyland and now operates as a boat ride in five Disney parks.
“It’s a Small World” features over 300 audio-animatronic dolls from all over the world singing the upbeat title song, which promotes peace and understanding. The song was written by Disney’s staff songwriters Robert S. Sherman and Richard B. Sherman after  Walt Disney had told the brothers to craft a tune that could be easily translated into multiple languages.

Turteltaub recently directed “Last Vegas” for CBS Films and the two “National Treasure” movies for Disney. Stern’s credits include “The Watch” and “The Internship”; he’s also working with Lin as a writer on the “Lego” sequel.

Stern is repped by WME, managers Marc Provissiero and Helena Heyman and attorney Karl Austen. Turteltaub is repped by WME, managed by David Lonner at Oasis and attorney Steve Warren.
