The X-Factor

Of all the Reality TV shows Dean is involved with the X-Factor is by far the biggest for him in terms of media interest and work.

Dean started predicting on the X-Factor in 2006 and since then it has become a bigger and bigger area of interest for him and his readers.

In 2010 Dean was featured in the official X Factor magazine on two occasions.

Dean is honoured to write for the UK's number one Reality TV website http://tellymix.co.uk .

Dean started writing for telly mix during 2011's Britain's Got Talent and he will continue to work with them during The 2011 X-Factor.

Below is a summary of Dean' s X-Factor Midas Acts to date. (A Midas Act is the person/band that Dean supports during the show)

Leona Lewis - 2006
Dean's first ever X-Factor Midas Act was Leona Lewis.
Dean predicted that Leona would win from her very first audition. Please refer to this.
On Saturday 16th December 2006 Leona Lewis was crowned the winner of X-Factor. Her debut single outsold the entire top 40 put together and was Christmas Number 1.
On 16th April 2008 Leona Lewis become the first British solo artist to have a debut album at the top of the US charts.
This followed Leona becoming the first English artist for over 20 years to get to Number 1 in the American singles chart.
Leona's 2nd single "Bleeding Love" went straight to number one outselling the rest of the top 5 put together, her debut album called 'Spirit' was at the time the biggest selling debut album of all time.
Since then Leona's career has gone from strength to strength

Niki Evans - 2007
After the success of Leona Lewis the pressure was really on Dean and everyone waited for his 2007 prediction.
In 2007 Dean was honoured and proud to back Niki Evans.
Niki started the finals as the 20-1 outsider but her outstanding performances and her warm personality soon pushed her up the betting.
Niki Evans went on to finish in 4th place but in a nice twist Simon Cowell said her version of the winning song was the best of all the remaining contestants.
Leon Jackson went on to win.
Niki was also the first act to ever let Dean 'officially' be involved during her journey, many other acts have followed and allowed Dean to do this but Niki was the first and for that he will be eternally grateful.
Niki Evans
After Niki left the show Dean predicted that she would be the biggest star of 2007's show despite only coming 4th.
This piece press piece went out.
Since 2007 Niki has gone on to have a very successful career in the West End and has to date had the lead role in Blood Brothers now on three occasions. She is currently involved in the tour version of the show around the country.
For more information on Niki Evans please visit.
Update - November 2011

Laura White - 2008
Dean went in to the X-Factor 2008 very confident of doing well with his Midas choice after a previous record of 1st and 4th.
But in 2008 Dean was to learn a very valuable lesson..Stay with your first gut instinct.
His original Midas choice for 2008 was Alexandra Burke BUT he changed his mind, and at the end of the audition shows when his pick was due, he went for Laura White instead...the rest as they say is history.
Laura White performed really well every week and was soon one of the favourites with the public.
On Saturday 8th November in one of the biggest shocks in the show's history Laura found herself in the bottom two and was voted off.
Laura's shock vote-off sparked a social networking and media frenzy and X-Factor fans around the country insisted that she was reinstated as they claimed to have had problems getting through to her voting telephone number. It was even mentioned in the Houses of Parliament.
This was one of the stories that went out.
Alexandra Burke went on to win the show.
Laura White is still touring and currently working on her new album.

Danyl Johnson - 2009
On 2009's X-Factor Dean backed and supported Reading teacher Danyl Johnson.
On Danyl's first audition Simon Cowell said "I've been doing this for... how many years? Eight or nine years. That was single-handedly the best first audition I have ever heard."
Danyl went onto reach the live shows with Simon Cowell as his mentor but from day one he received constant negative press from the national media.
Even with the pressure and most of the media against him, Danyl continued to perform to a high standard and went onto reach the Semi-Final and finished 4th.
The show was won by Joe McElderry.
Danyl Johnson is currently still gigging around the country and working on his debut album, which is due for release in early 2012.

Janet Devlin - 2011
Dean's 6th X Factor Midas Act was 17 year old Janet Devlin from Northern Ireland.
Janet unique singing voice and instant likeability helped her to reach 5th place.
Within 35 minutes of leaving the show Duncan Bannatyne's new label RKA record had offered Janet a record contract.
Dean said "I have become good friends with the Devlin family and I thank them for their trust and faith in me."
"There is always a demand for an artist who shows true, raw talent and the future for her will be bright. She has the X Factor tour, then she will weigh up her options, choosing the right path when the time is right."
To see the full story please visit.
Dean does also want to set the record straight on one thing!
"Just to confirm that I did officially promote Janet Devlin during the X Factor but I am not her Agent or Manager."

On Friday 9th December 2011 Dean teamed up with Ethan O'Leary and Spark FM for an X Factor special.
During the show they had an Exclusive chat with Janet Devlin, where Janet personally thanked Dean for his support and chatted about her X Factor experience and her future.
Update: December 13th 2011
Just after the Final, the voting stats were released and it made interesting viewing for Janet Devlin and her fans.
Janet topped the voting for the first 5 weeks and was never out of the top 3 until her departure.
The full results breakdown can be viewed via.
When the results were announced Dean was sent this email from Helen in Doncaster.
"Dean you clearly did a great job in promoting Janet and, in my opinion, she is set for a fantastic future. Good Luck"
Update: January 2012
In early January, Dean caught up with Janet for a Q&A feature.
X-Factor Round Up:
Over the years of working with X-Factor, Dean has made good friends & connections with other acts from the show.

Cher Lloyd - Swagger Jagger: 2011
On Sunday August 7th 2011, Cher Lloyd's debut single 'Swagger Jagger' went straight to Number One in the UK top 40.
DJ's from loads of radio stations, which included Radio Teesdale, Viking FM, Spark FM, Koast Radio, BBC Tees and Gaydio all gave Dean a credit for helping Cher get to Number One.
Dean said "When Cher was getting loads of negative press in the national media, I always stuck up for her and told them to leave her alone, this resulted in her giving me a thank you via a radio interview."
Back in September 2010 Dean also wrote this about Cher Lloyd after seeing her first X Factor audition.
"Next up was one of the best auditions I have ever seen whilst I have been making predictions about X-Factor, and a potential winner.Sixteen-year-old Cher Lloyd oozed pop star quality from the minute we saw her backstage, she has the look and the stage presence to be a big star whether she wins or loses on X-Factor".

Chico: 2005
Back in 2005 Chico caused a massive stir when against all odds he went on to finish 5th on the X-Factor.
Since then he has had a number one record with "It's Chico Time" (which knocked Madonna off of the top spot) and appeared on numerous TV shows.
Dean said of Chico "He is a top bloke, he has mentioned me numerous times to the national media with regards to my involvement with his work. You want someone with honesty, trust and an all round nice guy then Chico is your man."

Chico Update - January 2012
In early January Chico was called in to Dancing in Ice after Chesney Hawkes got injured.

"I wish Chesney all the best and a speedy recovery. I will not just be skating for myself I will be skating for Chesney as well and do him proud." Chico

Journey South: 2005
Journey South (Andy and Carl Pemberton) hit the big time in 2005 when they appeared on the UK reality show 'X Factor' coming third behind runner-up Andy Abraham and winner Shayne Ward. The guys were the real winners in the end though, when their debut album 'Journey South' beat Andy Abraham to the top spot in March 2006, and ended up outselling both the winner and runner-up. Their debut album went on to gain double platinum BPI certification, and to be one of the fastest albums of 2006.
Dean has worked with Andy on various projects including the F-Factor concert in 2010 and the upcoming 2011 follow up concert.
In 2011 the lads are still touring and playing to packed out audiences.

  1. I love the new series of The X Factor this year, but I am missing Simon and Cheryl. But Gary is doing a great job and I thin Nicole will be good too.
