On the 19th August VIPs, diplomats and celebrities from various industries descended on the Kings Road to raise money for the Katie Piper Foundation at the black tie auction. In the tradition of philanthropy long supported by diplomats worldwide we had diplomats from London Diplomatic Association, Young Diplomats in London (YDL), United Nations agencies, and diverse members of the diplomatic corps such as Sierra Leone, Iceland, Lebanon, Ethiopia, Caribbean islands, Zambia and Brunei Darussalam
We were also joined by various other charity representatives draped in all their finery. Our friends at Passionate Pink led by Debs Little came in full force in a group of 16 and bid for everything on the auction Lot. It’s an understatement to say that they were the life of the party. We also had representatives from St Giles (Recovery Through Football), The Peckham Settlement, FDC Young Designers Awards, Turtle Key Arts, Usurp Arts and Gallery, Genna Ethiopian Arts and Unity Carnival Arts.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen,
Due to a prior engagement I am unable to attend tonight’s event, but I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to the organisers for choosing to support the Katie Piper Foundation.
We established the Foundation with the goal of delivering an advanced rehabilitation and burns clinic in the UK, providing the treatment and familiar surroundings to allow burns survivors to recover on both a physical and emotional level. Since it was founded in 2009 we’ve been fortunate enough to work with some truly inspiring people, and have been able to provide rehabilitation and treatment, clinical care, self-image workshops and support networks.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the on-going help from our supporters, and all of us at the charity understand how lucky we are to have such a committed network behind us. As such, the backing from the Face of 2012 Gala Awards is truly appreciated by all of us, allowing us to continue delivering our services and support to those living with scars and burns. Whilst we are still some way from achieving the pinnacle of treatment facilities, as well as the normalisation of disfigurement in society, it is support such as this which drives us one step closer to these goals.
So from myself personally, and all of us at the Katie Piper Foundation, I would like to say thank you once more to the Face of 2012 team. Your support really does make a difference.

Katie Piper Biography
Previously a model and budding TV presenter, Katie created the foundation after surviving a brutal acid attack. Her intention is to change society’s perception of people with disfigurements as well as to build a world-class aftercare and rehabilitation centre for sufferers of burns and scarring. Simon Cowell is the patron of this incredible charity.
