She stands hands entwined blinking in the blinding spotlight before a baying audience.
Then Britain's Got Talent contestant Emma Halsam pads around barefoot on stage, giving the appearance of being struck by stage fright.
That is, until she unexpectedly bursts into life with a raunchy pole dance to rapturous applause on Saturday night's ITV1 show.
The mother of one from Smalley, Derby, said she is thrilled to have starred on the show, telling The Sun newspaper:
'Producers begged me to go on the show after seeing a video of me, it was crazy. Simon said I was really good. David said it didn't matter about my size at all.'
