Lea Michele may have moved on since Cory Monteith's death in July 2013 — she's been dating Matthew Paetz since last summer — but the actress will always hold a special place in her heart for her longtime love and co-star
After she and the cast finished filming the series finale of Glee on Sunday, the actress tweeted a touching photo of herself leaving of the Paramount lot with a single piece of memorabilia: Finn's jersey. "One last thing," she wrote beside the touching image, just minutes after tweeting "And that's a wrap on Glee" with a broken-heart emoticon. (Yes, go ahead — feel all the feels.)
Monteith played the sugary-sweet member of both the New Directions and the McKinley High football team during his tenure on the hit Fox series. After the actor's death, Finn's photo adorned the choir room walls and his framed jersey hung in the locker room as a testament to his memory. Glee also paid tribute to Monteith with the emotional episode, "The Quarterback," where Michele sang a gut-wrenching rendition of "Make You Feel My Love," and it was heartbreakingly clear that she was still fighting to cope with the loss.
But as many singers do, Michele used her music to help her cope. She went on to co-write the song "If You Say So" about Monteith for her pop album.
Now, Michele soldiering forth in both her professional and personal life, but just as she told her fans on Instagram, Monteith "will forever be in [her] heart."
