LONDON OLYMPIC VOLUNTEERS ALSO GOING FOR GOLD

THANK YOU LONDON OLYMPIC VOLUNTEERS!

Thank you to David Cohen of the LondonEvening Standard for recognising the London Volunteers that have given their time to help people.

"Unsung heros: Games Makers are working across the city to ensures the Games go as smoothly as possible"

FACT: LOCOG hired 70 thousand volunteers called Gamesmakers to help with the ceremonies, games and visitors in London. Danny Boyle hired thousands of volunteers for the ceremonies and to help build the stage. They all have happily volunteered their time and a bit of mony in some circumstances to ensure they are as helpful as possible to make the games a success.

Those members of the public that are complaining may assume that the volunteers know everything but they were each recruited for a specific skills set or area of experience. If they are not a transport volunteer they will not know about train times. Some of the volunteers don't live in London, but applied to help with numbers - at least they are doing something to help.

FACT: Do you know that the Gamesmaker volunteers are expected to work 10 hour shifts for 10 days. Most of them are going above and beyond that and making other's good experience a priority.

FACT: Do you know most volunteers may miss on seeing Games because they are not allowed beyond the entrance gate and because going to ticketed games may interfere with the volunteer shifts?

FACT: Did you know that some volunteers have volunteered for more than 1 position since early 2011? This includes Selection Events, Test Events, Simulation Events etc

FACT: Do you know that London Ambassadors were recruited to help out with New Year in London and the Queen's Jubilee?

FACT: Did you know that volunteers sacrificed their summer holidays to stay and help stage a successful Olympics?

FACT: Did you know some volunteers started working since early 2011 and helped at the Royal Wedding?
